Mr. Cherry has been licensed as a Nursing Home Administrator for more than thirty years. He owned and operated the CHERRY NURSING HOME, INC., in Montclair, New Jersey, a licensed skilled nursing facility.
He has experience in the use of governmental regulations, inspections-including OBRA, HCFA (now CMS), licensure and other nursing home situations, including staffing and requirements.
He has practiced law since May of 1967. His experience includes civil, criminal and matrimonial trial work. He has been retained as an expert witness in nursing home matters.
He was the ownerloperator of ARKADEE, INC., Totowa, New Jersey, which was a paralegal school from 1975 to 1995.
He lectured with the Institute for Continuing Legal Education, instructing newly licensed attorneys in trial work. He was a mediator, conciliator and arbitrator with the Department of the Public Advocate (a non-paid pro bono position), and an Arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association.
He is affiliated with HILOWITZ REALTY, a commercial real estate brokerage firm which specializes in sales and acquisitions of health care facilities, and has been involved in the sale of multi-million dollar properties.
From 1991 to 1999, he was a radio talk show host for a program known as "The Law and You", which aired at various times on WERA, WEVD (New York), WJNN and WCZT. The program was a "call-in" program.
He has taught and conducted several courses for accreditation of Nursing Home
Administrators in various locations in the State of New Jersey.
